This book is a celebration of the more than 400 years of Anglo-Dutch relations in religious matters in Utrecht, paying special attention to the centenary of Holy 'Trinity Church - the present Anglican church in Utrecht.

The first ever recorded Anglican church service was held in Utrechts cathedral, the Dom, on 22 april 1586.  For centuries thereafter, migrants from the British isles worshipped in a succession of Utrecht's municipal churches: from the Pieterskerk (Church of St Peter) to the Catharinakerk (St Catherine's Church) and subsequently settling at the Mariakerk (St Mary's Church). The book shows that even today the Anglican church in Utrecht is still a significant partner of the Utrecht city churches.

British migrants came to Utrecht as merchants, mercenaries, Puritan ministers, political exiles, railway navvies, engineers and as nannies. This is their fascinating story; where they worshipped, formed friendships and alliances, in what ways they had an impact on the religious life in Utrecht and how they were absorbed into local society. This is also a story about the the Anglo-Dutch relations between local Dutch ministers and theologians and their British counterparts.
