The 11th Parachute Battalion was officially formed on 4 March 1943 at Kabrit in Egypt. In September 1944 the Battalion took part in Operation Market Garden, On 18 September they jumped over Ginkel Heath as part of 4 Parachute Brigade, together with its sister parachute battalions the 10th and 156.
